Los Altos High School’s Red Cross club held their first blood drive of the school year on
September 10 2023.
The Red Cross club helps people in the Hacienda Heights and local regions.
Red Cross sophomore member Joan Shin said, “We help plan blood drives and volunteer
at different places for community hours.”
Red Cross will plan these events to help the local community in the Hacienda Heights
area. There’s a lot of consideration when deciding the events from date to what to do at the event
to make it enjoyable.
Red Cross President Yadhira Mireles said, “For our other event’s the cabinet chooses if
and how we are hosting the event. We also try to get the rest of the club members involved in the
decision making by asking for their input.”
Red Cross collects blood to help supply local blood banks and local hospitals in
Hacienda.
Shin said, “We tried to collect enough blood to donate to the local hospital and we were
able to even collect 72 pints.”
