LAHS Renaissance teamed up with Ding Tea in Hacienda Heights to help raise money for Conquer Cancer. When showing the online flier to the Ding Tea from now until October 22nd, 20% of each purchase will be donated to LAHS Renaissance.

The month-long event is dedicated to raising both awareness and money to help cancer patients and research.

Celina Lopez, the lead of Conquer Cancer, said, “Conquer Cancer gets together every October to hold different fundraisers and events throughout the month. Then, at the end of the month, all of the money made is split in half between the PIH Breast Health Center and the Ms. Mary Mallen Scholarship Fund.”

Trying to raise as much money as possible, Renaissance chose to partner with a local favorite among students.

“Our committee chose Ding Tea because we were trying to think of something that would attract a lot of students, boba. We knew that Ding Tea had done fundraisers with other schools in the past so we contacted [Ding Tea] and they were really supportive,” said Lopez.

Ding Tea is located at 17110 Colima Rd. E, Hacienda Heights, CA 91745. The shop is open from 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm Sunday to Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, Ding Tea stays open an extra hour until 8:00 pm.

The funds will ultimately be donated to The PIH Breast Health Center, a medical facility in Whittier that specializes in breast cancer patients, and the Mary Mallen Scholarship Fund, a scholarship created in memoriam of the LAHS guidance counselor who passed away from breast cancer.

“Think of the fundraiser as a ‘win-win’. You get to enjoy boba while helping a great cause! Take your family and encourage your friends to go as well,” said Lopez.
