People usually want to do different activities to enjoy time with their relatives, but don’t
know about places that offer them free events. Hacienda Heights community always has events
for all ages and public spaces like the library, parks and community centers that host free events.
The Hacienda Heights community center is a place designed for people to enjoy cultural,
creative, aquatic, and educational free activities. Some activities they offer are dance, theater and
art. There is computer, musical instruction, crafts, yoga and fitness classes as well. They have
communitary events, there are some presentations or meetings about various topics in different
categories.
The freshman Evaluna Escalante said “ Some of the things I do to enjoy my time are
going to the park, the movies and the mall.”
Enjoying memorable experiences with family or friends are the most fun and amazing
activities people can share.
“I know the city offers some types of sports but I am not really informed about other
activities,” Escalante said “ I think there’s plenty of options for things to do during the summer in
our community.”
In every community the events are made to unite the people together and offer beautiful
and safe spaces for everyone.
“ I would like to see more activities that are related to beauty,” Escalante said. “I think it’s
important that they offer many events for everyone, because not every teen can afford some of
the more expensive experiences, so it being free makes it really easy for teens to go.”
As every family has a different situation, free activities and holiday events are a great
option to appreciate especially for families with low resources.
There are parks all around the Hacienda La Puente community that have free and large
spaces for you to enjoy. They have attractions for children and some of them have courts for
different sports. There are clubs for different people with various interests. Summer activities are
offered for everyone. They open sports by seasons for kids of all ages, and trainings too.
The sophomore Valeria Elias said “ I sometimes look at the La Puente social media page
when looking for free activities.”
Social platforms have a great impact on everyone, it also works as a great source of
information specially for teenagers.
“I think online instagrams pages are the best to find out about local events” Elias said “I
think the best way to let people know about free activities in the community is to put flyers up
and post on social media.”

@lacountyparks, or go directly to the Hacienda Heights community center and ask for more
information. They have posters of the activities going on; special for holidays they have many
events and plans for the community to enjoy.
Elias said,“I think schools should inform students about free activities on an instagram
page, so we can take more advantage of them. ”
