In 2023, the first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie was released. For many horror game
lovers, this was a dream come true nearly a decade in the making. The original game was
released August 8th 2014, already having built a loyal following before the release of this movie.
By the time the film arrived, all of the original fans were older, and it awoke the old community
of FNAF players.
The trailer of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 promises new animatronics, new arcs of
Fazbear's Pizza and the horrors of the original game escape their usual confines.
Santiago Vazquez, a 7th Grader at Newton Middle School wasn’t exposed to the
community before, but he went to watch the movie. “I know the lore behind FNAF, but since I
didn’t play the game I didn't feel a close connection to the movie.” He says.
It had been 9 years since the game was released, so when the trailer came out fans were
outraged by the revival of the old game.
Others are veterans of the fandom, instagram user @p0lka.dotz an original FNAF player
watched the 1st movie when it first came out. “I'm really excited for this new fnaf film, partially
because of the first one,” she says. “We waited a crazy amount and so the fact it's this year and a
bit sooner, is extremely exciting.”

The gap between the two movie releases is only two years, so it’s a grand difference
between the almost a decade original game players had to wait for the first movie. Although,
many express disappointment with the first movie; they mention that it felt rushed.
“FNAF was something I personally grew up with and it is one of those interests you
never fully grow out of.” @p0lka.d0ts says, "I thought it was really great, however, as someone
who’s been a big fan of the game franchise since they were 7 or 8, it was painful to see how they
kind of butchered the lore.”

Many fans share the same sentiment, the game itself had an extensive history and original
players had to learn this lore in order to fully grasp the plot of Five Nights At Freddy’s.

“On the contrary, I enjoyed the movie. Although, now that I understand the backstory of the
game, I find that they had a lot of time to truly create this movie.” Vazquez says.

Besides the new plot, here’s what we know about the upcoming movie: Josh Hutcherson
returns as Mike Schmidt, Elizabeth Lail as Vanessa Shelly and Piper Rubio as Abby. And a
surprise to horror movie lovers, “Scream” actor, Skeet Ulrich will be a new actor for the film.

“i’ve seen the ad for it and it seems much better, and not to mention, they’ve featured a ton of
celebrities that i can recognize.” @p0lka.d0ts says, “So i think that the movie will genuinely be
just as good as the last one.”
