Students from Los Altos Highschool are having a grueling time buying concert tickets as a high demand on Ticketmaster leaves fans feeling frustrated.
For many students, securing tickets has become a lottery like gamble rather than a guarantee. Fans of the most major artists describe the process as unpredictable as limited supply takes over many ticket websites.
“You really do have to have amazing luck when trying to score tickets for big artists because you never know what numbers you’re gonna get in the queue. From my personal experience, it was hard to try and score tickets for my favorite artists, unfortunately I didn’t get them on my end due to the high number I got- but I was able to get them from a friend of a friend who has amazing luck with Ticketmaster. I’ve heard of many “hacks” you can try to do to try and get a low number in the queue, but they’ve all been debunked by Ticketmaster. At the end of the day Ticketmaster is really just lottery.” Said Allison Hernandez
Hernandez quotes emphasizes how luck plays a huge role in scoring tickets, suggesting that even dedicated fans can miss out entirely. As Hernandez mentions the many “hacks” she spotlights how random Ticketmaster is designed to be. Hernandez introduces how many students rely on friends or connections just to get tickets. Further preserving the discouragement that can undermine loyal fans like Hernandez. The experience overall within attaining concert tickets indulges a stressful and disappointing process.
“My sister was on her computer all day trying to get tickets for the concert in May. The preorder had just started” Said Alejandra Galaviz
Galaviz supports that the constant effort within attaining concert tickets is preserved in fan and artist connection. Galaviz builds the urgency of gaining concert tickets in the satisfaction in seeing her favorite artist on tour
“She was in 200th place so we didn’t think we would get them” Said Alejandra Galaviz
The disappointment surrounding the Ticketmaster app serves as to why Los Altos conqueror Galaviz was unsuccessful in attaining concert tickets.
“Overall on Ticketmaster, I’ve had a great experience, most of the time it has been successful. But on Saturday for BTS general sale, it was terrible. I tried for 3 cities but was unable to get tickets although my number was below 20,000.” Said Xiomara Amaya
Amaya’s experience in particular highlights that even a queue number, high demand events like BTS concerts can make it nearly impossible to attain tickets. Amaya’s frustration is one that embodies the authenticity of being a BTS fan. Amaya’s frustration reflects the limits that take place during peak sales, demonstrating the extreme popularity that rises among the newest K Pop artists. This unpredictability further constructs fans to become more persistent, and even more self aware. Amaya’s perception concludes as she emphasizes that buying tickets is as much about effort or even preparation.
